iBreastfeed - Get over it!

Supporting family and friends

You may find it embarrassing to be in front of your family and friends when they breastfeed, especially in the beginning. Don't worry, in time you will find that it becomes less awkward, particularly when you begin to realise breasts are actually designed for feeding babies, so breastfeeding is a very natural and normal thing to do.

Friends and family are often key people to support new parents. If you can encourage, support and help a new parent you will be letting them know that you support their choice to breastfeed.

The best way to do this is to find out as much information as possible about how breastfeeding working, why it is good to breastfeed and what some of the myths are about breastfeeding a new born baby.

Why not join the debate on breastfeeding and start discussing it with your friends, family or people you know?
