A supportive family can be key

Q. My baby is breastfeeding well but will not drink from a bottle, why is this?

Involving friends

Your friends can often be a fantastic support while breastfeeding, especially in public. Some women are embarrassed about breastfeeding in public to begin with, but your friends can help you overcome that and gain confidence. They can help to cover you from passers-by when your baby needs feeding in a café, shop or on the bus, for example. Friends can also be great for sticking up for you if you are unfortunate enough to receive any negative comments about what you are doing.

Your friends will be a great support while breastfeeding because they are not as deeply involved in your child’s upbringing as your partner, parents or other family members, so if you are having any problems, discuss them with your friends. Your friends may not be as involved in feeding or caring for your baby, but they will be a great support for you directly, so try to involve them as much as possible.
